Castelveccana lies south of Porto Valtravaglia, where the shore flattens out and the lake opens up. This apartment belongs to a house with a large hillside garden: lawn, old trees, a swimming pool and a barbecue area, and behind it the view across the bay as far as Luino.

The garden

This is the argument for the house. A wide lawn with a palm and a pool, loungers by the water, a barbecue for long evenings. From the edge of the property the view drops over the roofs to the lake; in the morning mist stands on the water, in the evening the sun goes down behind the mountains.

Living and cooking

Inside, several living areas over two levels, with white-painted beamed ceilings, terracotta floors and a mix of modern sofas and old furniture. The kitchen is open to the living room, with hob, oven, fridge and a dining table.

Sleeping and bathing

Five bedrooms for up to eight guests, spread through the house – some in the converted attic under roof windows, others on the ground floor with arched windows and old timber beds. Two bathrooms, both with showers.

Good to know

The pool is seasonal. Washing machine and WiFi are provided; a cot and high chair are available on request. Minimum stay three nights. The harbour with its bar and jetty is a few minutes on foot, Luino twenty minutes by car.
