The name is literal: this apartment sits on the slope above Colmegna, and in front of the house a lawn falls away towards the lake. No neighbouring roof in the view – only green, water, and the mountains on the far shore.
Outside
In front of the house a stone pergola with festoon lights and a long table, and beside it loungers and parasols on the grass. In the evening the lake takes colour and the light lasts. Anyone coming here in summer will get to know the apartment mostly from outside.
Living and cooking
Inside, the renovation was careful: masonry arches, a sage-green kitchen with a gas range and a large fridge, a solid dining table for six, an open fireplace with logs beside it. Glazed folding doors open the living room onto the veranda.
Sleeping and bathing
Two bedrooms, one with an old iron bed against a green wall. And two bathrooms – both new, one with a level-access rain shower, both with windows.
Good to know
Free parking on the grounds, a desk with WiFi, air conditioning, washing machine. Pets are welcome and a travel cot is available. No minimum stay – a single night is possible. Luino is five minutes by car.
